As soon as you start researching diamond painting, you’ll notice that some kits are 3d and some are 5d. So what’s the difference? Put simply, in 3d diamond painting each of the diamond pieces you put down on the canvas (referred to as “drills”) have 9 total facets, whereas in 5d diamond painting, each drill has 15 total facets. The advantage of 5d diamond painting is that the end result tends to shine more, and it will look like it has more depth.
If you’re just starting out, I don’t necessarily recommend 5d diamond painting kits — it’s best to start with the simplest version first, which is the 3d version.
